I ended 2018 in a funk. I told myself that 2019 was going to be my year. I didn’t know how I was going to get there, but I made a promise to myself that I was going to figure it out. 2019 rolled in, a long-term relationship came to an end, I turned 37, and my dog died. I was feeling REALLY sorry for myself. On top of all of that, I was at my ALL-TIME heaviest. I had a serious Starbucks addiction, loved Chick-fil-A, and anyone that knows me will tell you that on the weekends I never said no to a good time. My clothes didn’t fit, I was self-conscious, grumpy and well, just sad. Definitely not living my best life.

Around that same time my friend, Michael, was snapchatting this new gym he was going to like crazy. I was intrigued. He told me all about it and gave me the card for a free class. Guys, I was an athlete, but it had been AWHILE since I had done a hard workout. I had been watching Hulu on an elliptical at a gym that serves pizza the last few months! I was nervous before walking into Ultimate Workout, but the staff gave me a tour, and everyone was so nice. The instructor was so positive and found a way to help me get the most out of my workout without embarrassing me or making me feel like I was weak. And guess WHAT? I lived.

I signed up that day. I was able to sit down and go over my goals, as well as talk about nutrition that could help me reach my goals. That’s when I learned that Girl Scout Cookies even with peanut butter are not a good source of protein. Fast forward to an April Challenge where the only thing to lose was WEIGHT, and I started attending morning classes every day of the week. I was certain then that they were not just pumping music and lights in that room, but also miracles because I NEVER, I mean NEVER saw an early morning unless I was catching a flight to the beach.

I’m hooked. I absolutely love the positive people that make up this place; EVERYONE has the same goal to be happy, healthy, and to kick butt! I’ve learned that you should NEVER, EVER let anyone tell you that you can’t – especially if the voice telling you that is your own. Like the wise Dolly Parton said, “find out who you are and do it on purpose.” I’m doing it on purpose with the encouragement of my wonderful Ultimate Workout Family. I’m still a work in progress, but I am down 23 pounds, motivated, and inspired!
