Before finding UW, I was a new mom and needed to find a new routine. I joined UW back in November 2018 and fell in love with the structure and classes. I looked forward to every class, and the coaches were so incredible. Then the COVID-19 era hit, and I, along with most of the world, stopped our daily routines and fell away from a lot of healthy habits. Having a newborn and now working from home, my health took a back seat, and I had a second baby a year and a half later. I kept tabs on UW via social media while I took some time off, and I told myself I’d go back as soon as I could after having my second daughter. I rejoined UW in April 2022 with a determination to establish healthy habits once more. It hasn’t been easy, and I’ve had to learn what works best for myself.
I have lost over 30 pounds since April 2022, and I feel so strong. UW has kept me consistent with my monthly workouts and goals. Having access to the InBody scale has been a big help for knowing my muscle and fat percentage when looking at progress, not just the number on the scale. I have lost over 10% body fat while maintaining my muscle percentages.
They have helped me with nutrition questions and guidance. The challenges are always fun and something to look forward to. I value my journey with UW immensely, and they truly care about everyone’s well-being. My favorite class is Fridays full body workouts. It is intense and sets a great tone for the rest of my weekend. Each coach has made my day better with the little motivational things they say during class or at the end of class. You all have truly transformed me for the better when it comes to having a healthy relationship with workouts/nutrition and an overall daily mindset.
I still have goals I want to achieve with getting stronger and feeling my best. My focus is consistency along with an overall balance of movement and nutrition every week. I remind myself this journey will not be perfect, and there will be good days and not so good days, but staying in the right mindset will keep me on track for continued progress. I want to grow old (yet be active and strong) with my kids and husband for years to come. I look forward to each new month and locking in my classes with the best community at UW! I’ve never felt better physically or mentally, and I’ll be turning 40 in a few months. At the end of the day, I’m proud of myself for taking time out of my day or early morning to focus on my physical and mental health.
